Park Hill/Park Hill South Young Life Camp 2012

February 6, 2012
By Jay Peterson of Young Life Platte County

The Best Week of Your Life: July 28th – August 5th, 2012

Here’s the Deal: High school kids from PH/PHS are headed to Sharp Top Cove in Georgia! Sharp Top Cove, located 70 miles north of Atlanta, is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains on 1150 acres. We will depart on chartered busses the night of July 28th and return the morning of August 5th. This is during the dead week for sports so no practices or camps will be missed.

What is Sharp Top like? There is something for everyone. Basically, it’s a resort! If you like high adventure, you can brave the high ropes course, take on the climbing wall, ride the zip line into the lake, or take a ride on the Screamer – a huge tree top swing. For the less adventuresome, there is a pool, hot tub, frisbee golf course, waterslide, fully furnished game room, outdoor basketball, and sand volleyball.

How much? Total cost of the trip is $695. This includes transportation on chartered busses, insurance, lodging, all the activities and excellent food for the 8 days. The only "extra" money you'll need is for food on the bus trip and goods at the Sharp Top Store (optional).

For your convenience, we ask that you turn payments in according to the following due dates:

$150 deposit (ASAP to reserve your spot) – $350 payment (May 27th) – Remainder (July 1st)

Sounds good, can’t afford it? We are going to be offering fund-raiser opportunities in the winter/spring to aid in paying for the trip. Many students have fund-raised their entire trip! More information later.

How do I sign up? Give your leader (or mail to the address below) a $150 deposit and the registration form below. The deposit will secure your spot. Hurry!! The deposit is NON-refundable after April 1st.

2nd Timers:. If you have been to camp before and want to go again, contact Jay before signing up.

A WORD TO THE PARENTS CONCERNING YOUNG LIFE

Through bonds of friendship, we seek to assist teenagers making their way in a confusing world. We are there when kids need us and communicate the Christian faith in terms they can understand. Our aim is to provide resources and an atmosphere in which kids can make intelligent decisions for themselves. Just in case you’ll worry, there is always a doctor or nurse at camp. There will also be qualified adult leaders attending (at a 1 to 5 leader-to-camper ratio). Responsible, mature Young Life leaders will be involved with the kids in a well-planned program for the entire week.
