8th Grade Recap November 26, 2012

In 8th grade Yorkville boys’ basketball action Monday night (11/19), the Foxes were defeated by Bednarcik Junior High School in the 1st game on a last second shot; 36-34.  On the positive side, the team was led by strong performances by Ben Garbleman and Austin Avery.  In 1st games this season, the Foxes fall to 5-3. In the second game, 8th grade turned the tables on Bednarcik with a 32-15 win.  Tyler Kvidera led all scorers with 9 points.  Connor Augenstein also scored 6pts. In second games this season, the Foxes improve to 7-1.

In 8th grade Yorkville boys’ basketball action Monday night (11/26), the Foxes won a nail biter aganst Traughber Junior High School with a score of 31-30.  Austin Avery again led the team in scoring with 10 points, as Nick Owens added 7 more.  In the second game, the Foxes fought and won another close game with a 26-21 victory.  Andrew McKee had 5 points, while Kenneth Buce chipped in 4 more pts.

In 8th grade Yorkville boys’ basketball action Tuesday night (11/27), the Yorkville Foxes split two games at home against the Sandwich Indians.  Game 1 was a heartbreaker as Sandwich barely edged out the Foxes 28-27.  Joel Salinas and Austin Avery led the team, scoring 18 of the teams 27 points.  In game 2, the Foxes overcame the game 1 defeat with a win by the score of 33-26. Jeru Lester and Tommy Alfaro both played their best game of the season.  At week’s end, the 8th grade boys’ basketball team’s 1st game record stands at 6-4, while improving the record in 2nd games to 9-1.
