8th Grade Recap for the Week of Nov.12, 2012

In 8th grade Yorkville boys’ basketball action Monday night, the Foxes were defeated by Thompson Junior High School in the 1st game.  Despite the loss, there were solid efforts made by Austin Avery and Joel Salinas. In 1st games this season, the Foxes fall to 3-2. In the second game, 8th grade was able to avenge defeat over Thompson with a 24-19 win.  DeAndre Manual led all scorers with 8 points.  Brendan Reifsteck also scored 6pts. In second games this season, the Foxes improve to 4-1.

In 8th grade Yorkville boys’ basketball action Tuesday night, the Foxes bounced back from Monday’s 1st game loss to defeat the Plank Pirates 40-33.  Austin Avery led the Foxes scoring a season and team high 21 points while Joel Salinas followed with 10 points.  In the second game the Foxes continued their winning ways with a 30-21 win.  Tyler Kvidera had 6 points, while Conner Augenstein impressed with hustle and lock-down defense.

In 8th grade Yorkville boys’ basketball action Thursday night, the Yorkville Foxes won both games against Murphy Junior High School.  Game 1 was won by a score of 30-19 while being led once again in scoring by Austin Avery with 14 points.  Nick Owens shot the ball well and ended with 7pts.  In game 2, the Foxes overcame a late run by Murphy and held on to win by the score of 35-26. Jason Lewan led all scorers with 6 points while Steve Behrens played like a defensive M.V.P. At week’s end, the 8th grade boys’ basketball team’s 1st game record stands at 5-2, while improving the record in 2nd games to 6-1.
