Home » General NewsTaryn Lowes attends Northwest Yearbook CampAugust 13, 2012 By Brian Berry of Yoncalla High SchoolLowes attends Northwest Yearbook Camp Yoncalla High School senior Taryn Lowes recently attended the 8th annual Inland Northwest Yearbook Camp at Ganzaga University in Spokane, Washington. This workshop is designed to teach and empower students to build a student friendly yearbook. Taryn has participated in the building of the last 2 yearbooks at YHS and is excited about the multitude of changes that she intends to make with this year’s rendition. She states, “The classes were amazing. This yearbook will be a major improvement from the previous year’s books. We will focus on personal stories throughout the school year.” The workshop included topics such as writing, photography, design, interviewing and leadership. This is Taryn’s second year of attending this particular workshop and she also took time to stop at Oregon State University and meet with their yearbook staff where she was introduced to a variety of software and procedures that they use. Her hope is to bring ideas back to the YHS yearbook staff to help build the best yearbook ever and to pass on her knowledge of how to sustain one of the few self published yearbooks in the state of Oregon.
