ATL Midnight Express 9th Grade Champions Atlanta Select Ballerz Classic!!

On the weekend of June 8th, The ATL Midnight Express Team showed out in The Atlanta Select Ballerz Classic (http://www.atlselect.com/) with the participation of our 7/8 grade Blue Team, 8th Grade Orange Team and the 9th Grade Team.  The 9th Grade team dominated the weekend with a 4-0 record to amass their elusive championship victory after four previous attempts at the title.  Hard work and determination was the difference this week when the ATL Midnight Express played some pesky, fundamentally sound teams from Atlanta Select that really tested the skills and agility of our 9th grade team.  With only six players in attendance to participate, The ATL Midnight Express 9th grade team rallied and was able to prevail because of our well conditioned and skilled athletes and the hard work in practice that has paid off.  The ATL Midnight 8th Grade Orange Team had a great tourney as well with a runner up finish until falling to Coach Baskerville's Atlanta Select Team in the finals while the 8th Grade Blue Team which several seventh graders played up made it to the semifinals due to their strong desire to win despite their lack of AAU experience. 

The Atlanta Select Tournament was a terrific event in which the officiating was very fair, the teams were legitimate and the concessions were spectacular with fresh fried fish, barbeque ribs and many more tasty items on the menu.  It was a great experience for the kids and adults as well for our team and we all had a great time.  Big shot out to Jesse Baskerville, Kenneth Powell and Coach Salley for conducting a very eventful, fun loving tournament for our student athletes, coaches and parents.
