Montgomery, WV –
WVU Tech’s Chris Gray has been selected as Defensive Player of the Week according to Dan Evans, Chief Operating Officer of Beyond Sports Network. This is a national award and is only given to six defensive players in the country on the NAIA Division I level. Gray’s twelve tackles (six solo) led the Golden Bears’ defensive effort against a Cumberlands (3-1) team that has received votes the past two weeks on the national level and is sitting in second place in the West Division. In addition to his twelve tackles, Gray also had seven and a half tackles for a loss and was in on one and a half sacks. He also forced one fumble on the afternoon as the Golden Bears came out on the short side of a 31-26 decision. WVU Tech and head coach Scott Tinsley will look to rally the troops this week as they prepare to host UVA-Wise to cap off the week’s Homecoming celebrations. The game is slated for a 5:30pm kick. BSN is a sports media site that features colleges and players from the FCS, DII, DIII, and NAIA levels.
