Tech Drops Game At Herb Sims Classic

BLUEFIELD, W. Va. - The WVU Tech women's basketball team dropped their first match-up of the Sheetz Herb Sims Classic Friday evening to host, Bluefield State College (W. Va.), 80-52. The Golden Bears fall to 2-9 while the Blues improve to 3-9.
Junior center Roche Wimberly was three rebounds from a double-double with 15 points and seven rebounds. Wimberly also blocked a game-high three balls to go with her two steals. Junior guard Nia Nolan chipped in 15 points. The junior produced three assists, two rebounds, and a block.
Sophomore guard Cheyanna Lusk contributed with nine points, five rebounds, two steals, and an assist. Freshman guard Elizabeth Evans rounded out the top scorers for the Golden Bears with six points while grabbing as many boards.
As a team, Tech shot 17-for-48 (35.3 percent) from the field and 15-for-25 (60 percent) from the foul line. The Golden Bears forced 14 Bluefield State turnovers while grabbing seven steals.
WVU Tech will play Glenville State College in their final game of the Sheetz Herb Sims Classic on Saturday, December 21. Tip-off at Bluefield State College is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
