Leadership & Service » United Airlines Mock Interviews Prepare Ridgewood's Consumer Ed Students for the Real World 10-22-2013
On Tuesday October 22, 2013, United Airlines Director Of Customer Services Jacqui Key and Ridgewood High School Consumer Education teacher Debra Ridgner coordinated a day of Mock Interviews for over 100 juniors and seniors.
United's human resource investment of donating the time and energy of 8 United employees - including top level management in charge of over 1600 employees - was indeed inspiration-causing and aspiration-raising.
Putting 4 classes of Debra Ridgner's Consumer Ed classes through the interviewing paces was an amazing educational feat, firmly grounded in the real world.
Ms. Ridgner and her students put time and energy into preparing resumes, research and responses for the interview process. Jacqui Key and her United team developed questions and scoring templates as well as put together the interviewers schedules. United also took the time to look up student Facebook pages and give them feedback from an employer's standpoint.
United brought with them staff members from across the career lifespan. From Mary with 45 years of service to Mario with a transfer and just a few years of service United gave a real picture of spectrum of possibilities within a large organization.
Allowing students to have a glimpse into hiring and employment practices at United helps prepare students for what lies ahead. This real world learning application was invaluable for the students and their futures.
