October 24, 2011 - P.J. O'Connor named Metro Suburban Conference Offensive MVP
Congratulations to P.J. O'Connor on being named the Metro Suburban Conference Offensive Player of the Year. P.J. helped lead the Rebels to a second place finish in the 5 team conference and put up huge numbers throughout the season. P.J. finished the year with 1,112 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns. He ended the season with 2,002 yards of all purpose offense and 21 total touchdowns. Congratulations on this great accomplishment.

October 11, 2011 - P.J. O'Connor named as a Sun-Times Week 7 Football Star
P.J. O'Connor was once again named as a week 7 football star in Sunday's Sun-Times. This is the 3rd time in 4 weeks that P.J. has received this honor. P.J.'s effort against St. Joe's is what earned him this distinction once again. P.J. ended the game with 185 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns and 103 yards receiving and 1 touchdown. He also recorded 8 tackles and an interception on defense. Congratulations P.J.

October 11, 2011 - Ridgedwood Football Rolls in Homecoming Victory
The Ridgewood Rebels varsity football program improved to 4-3 overall when they beat Saint Joe's on Friday night to earn their 4th consecutive victory. The Rebels got off to a fast start on both sides of the ball and never looked back as they won the homecoming football game by a score of 47-6. All members of the football program contributed to this great win. The Rebels now look to make it 5 in a row versus Glenbard South this Friday night on Rebels Senior Night. Please come out and support the team.

October 3, 2011 - Varsity football defeats the previously unbeaten Fenton Bison
Congratulations to the Rebels varsity football program on their 3rd consecutive victory. The Rebels defeated Fenton 32-20, handing Fenton their 1st loss of the season. This win moved the Rebels to 3 and 3 overall and 2-0 in conference.

The Rebels were led by an all around great team effort. Everyone on the team made huge contributions to this big win. The offense was led by the stellar play of the offensive line. The wide receivers all came up with huge catches. Justin Rivera, Alex Wendel, and Tammer Saadeh had big catches and Adam Kutylowski came up with a nice catch for the first Rebels touchdown of the game. Joe Jacobsen turned in another fine performance at QB and once again, P.J. O'Connor led the rushing attack with 144 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also had an 88 yard kickoff return for a touchdown. The defense played a very good game and did a great job containing the Bison offense. Big interceptions were made by Adam Kutylowski, Tammer Saadeh, and Sam Karim. Brad Cabot made a huge 4th down tackle to help keep the Bison out of the endzone at the end of the game. Congratulations to all of the varsity football players.

September 26, 2011 - Rebels beat R-B Bulldogs for 2nd straight win
Congratulations to the Rebels varsity football team for its impressive victory over the R-B Bulldogs on Friday night. This was a great all-around game for every part of the football team. Great performances were turned in by the entire offensive unit, defensive unit, and special teams unit. The offensive line showed great determination throughout the game as did the wide receivers, running backs and QB. The defense played a great bend but don't break game and came up huge when needed. An overall great defensive performance was spotlighted by a QB sack by James Lee to end R-B's momentum at the end of the game. On offense, another great performance was turned in by P.J. O'Connor who had 210 yards rushing on 20 carries and 2 touchdowns. Joe Jacobsen connected with his receivers 13 times for 156 yards and 2 touchdown. Great win Rebels.

September 26, 2011 - P.J. O'Connor named as a Sun-Times Week 5 Football Star
For the second consecutive week, the Sun-Times has named P.J. O'Connor one of its Week 5 football stars. P.J. earned this accolade for the second straight week after his great performance in the Rebels victory against Riverside Brookfield on Friday night. P.J. started the game off with an 88 yard kick-off return that set up the Rebels first touchdown and when the game was over, P.J. had amassed 210 rushing yards on 20 carries and 2 touchdowns. Once again, congratulations to P.J. on being honored by the Sun-Times for the 2nd consecutive week.

September 19, 2011 - P.J. O'Connor named as a Chicago Sun-Times Week 4 Football Star
Ridgewood Rebels Varsity Football Player, P.J. O'Connor was named as a Chicago Sun-Times Week 4 Football Star for his performance on Friday versus Elmwood Park. Each week, the Chicago Sun-Times selects roughly 10 high school football players from the entire Chicagoland area based on their performance from the weekend's football games. They publish their selections every Sunday in the sports section. P.J. was selected after his outstanding performance in which he had 320 yards of total offense from scrimmage. He finished with 108 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns as well as 212 yards receiving and 1 touchdown. Congratulations P.J.

September 19, 2011 - Ridgewood Football tames the E.P. Tigers
The Ridgewood Rebels varsity football team picked up their first victory of the year with an impressive win versus their neighborhood rivals, the Elmwood Park Tigers. The Rebels won by a final score of 34-14. The offense was led by strong performances by the offensive line, as well as the running backs and wide receivers. The defense was solid as the defensive line, linebackers, and defensive backs all contributed in big ways. Big performances were turned in on offense by quarterback Joe Jacobsen who was 17-26 for 304 yards and 3 touchdowns as well as P.J. O'Connor who amassed 320 yards of total offense. P.J. had 108 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns and 212 yards receiving and 1 touchdown. An all around great team effort helped propel the Rebels to the home victory. Please come out and support the Rebels at home this week as they look to make it two straight versus the Bulldogs of Riverside Brookfield.
