Home » Football NewsJackets lose in a shootoutOctober 14, 2011 By Gage Beavers of woodfordathletics.com - Woodford County High SchoolOn Friday, October 7th, the Jackets played host to district rival Franklin County. The Jackets went into the game looking for their first district win. They knew they would be in for a challenge, and that is exactly what they got. In an offensive barn burner, Franklin County came out on top, 57-25. The Jacket offense was stellar. Most of the production came from the three headed rushing attack of Sam Rusher, Michael Rusher, and Brandon Campbell. Campbell led with 118 yards. Sam Rusher ran for 98 yards and a touchdown, while Michael Rusher ran for 48 yards and a touchdown. Michael also added 63 yards receiving and a touchdown reception. Quarterback Matt Couch threw for 109 yards and a touchdown pass, also adding a rushing touchdown. The defense faced arguably their toughest test of the season, but couldnt stop Franklin County all night long. The defense was led again by junior Conrad Smart, who had 9 tackles. WCHS took to the road tonight to face Montgomery County in a critical district game, but results are not in. The Jackets return home next friday, October 21st, to face West Jessamine. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
