The Wildcats raced out to an 8-0 lead and led 20-2 just 6 minutes into the game as they coasted to an 81-50 win on Tuesday night against Mound-Westonka. The Cats defense set the tone creating several steals in the first half. Waconia also shot the ball extremely well converting 35 of their 61 shots (57.3%).
Our Cats also controlled the boards grabbing 50 rebounds to the Whitehawks' 37. A 51-17 halftime lead meant the JV played a large chunk of the 2nd half so 11 different players scored for Waconia. Anna Schmitt, Morgan Iverson, Fiona DeMario, and Steph Dressen reached double figures in scoring. Dressen had a team leading 9 rebounds. DeMario had 7 boards. Dressen added 5 blocked shots.
The win makes the Wildcat's record 15-6 overall and 10-1 in the Wright County Conference.
Our JV Cats cruised to a 50-33 win. Brenna Rice scored 14 and Kaylee Vanderhoff contributed 12 in the victory. The JV team improved to 12 and 7 on the season.
The Freshman team trounced Mound-Westonka 59-23. Hallie Koppi led the way with 17 points while Ally Fuller scored 12. The 9th graders are 14 and 4 overall.
There is not much of a rest for the Wildcats this week as they travel to Hutchinson on Thursday and then host section opponent Benilde-St. Margaret's on Saturday.
