THE WILDCAT WAY
HALL OF FAME
Cats Continue to Struggle
December 4, 2012Waconia Girls Basketball MN
The opening minutes of the game were again unkind to Waconia in their 64-59 loss to New Prague. Turnovers and missed shots set the tone for another frustrating evening.
After the opening minutes Waconia went on a 12-2 run to take a 12-6 lead, but cold shooting and foul trouble would lead the lead to evaporate and the Wildcats trailed 31-25 at halftime.
Waconia again found themselves down by double digits in the 2nd half before mounting a comeback, but they were never able to trim the Trojan lead to less than 4. New Prague's ability to get to the free throw line limited the Cats ability to complete the comeback. The Trojans were 27 for 35 at the charity stripe. Our Cats scored 16 points at the line in 19 attempts. New Prague was 18 for 49 from the floor (37%) while Waconia was 19 for 58 (33%). Both teams committed over 20 turnovers.
On a positive note, the Wildcats rebounded better than they have all season grabbing 15 offensive boards. Fiona DeMario led the way with 11 rebounds. Morgan Iverson added 9.
The Wildcats are now 2 and 3 on the season and what appeared to be a season full of promise is on the verge of taking a very dissapointing turn. Hopefully the Cats can put it all together starting with their next contest at Buffalo on Thursday night.
The 9th grade Cats were able to carve their way through the Trojan full court pressure but they struggled to convert the press break into points in their 44-35 loss. Emily Anderson scored 12 points to lead the offense.
Our JV Cats didn't defend New Prague very well in a 63-51 defeat. Kendall Eder scored 16 points and Kahner Priess added 8.
