Pack Beat Region Foe Paideia 4-1

March 30, 2011
By Donal Ratigan of Whitefield Academy

Whitefield beats Paideia 4-1 in an important region game to go 3-1 in the region and remain only a ½ game out of first place.  Nahim Attaf pitches his second complete game victory striking out 4 and allowing only 1 earned run in each of his last 2 outings.  The Pack’s defense has played errorless ball the last 3 games.  Nahim’s battery mate, David Lewis, made a nice throw to shortstop Neil Ratigan to throw out a Python trying to steal 2nd.  Nick Papparelli had 2 nice plays at 3rd snagging a tailing line drive and then making a diving catch of a foul ball down the 3rd base line leaving the bases loaded and ending a Paideia scoring threat.  The Pack worked hard to score 4 runs VS a quality pitcher.  Neil was 1 for 1 with a single, walk, sacrifice bunt and a scored the 1st run of the game in the bottom of the 3rd; Kevin Whitney stayed hot reaching on an error and driving a double to left center to score 2 key runs in the 5th inning to stretch our lead to 3-0; Brian Whitney was 1 for 3 and drove in the 1st run of the game; Nahim walked and pinch runner Tyler Andrew scored our last run of the game in the 6th; Nick Papparelli reached on an error and drove in a run; David Lewis singled and scored; Roc Sherrell was 2 for 3 with a hard hit double and a run scored.  The boys are playing great ball and have a tough region game on the road this Friday VS Landmark.
