Boles, Hatley and Barber compete in Meet of Champions

 On Sunday, November 14, 2010, Guilford College and Coach Bill Cason hosted their 2nd Annual XC Meet of Champions. Coach Cason's dream is to have an event 1 week after the NCHSAA state championships  where the top runners from each classification can come together and compete in one event.  The meet is open to all high schools and individual runners that  meet the following criteria: Boys with a sub 17:15 5K time; girls with a sub 20:45 5K time ; boys team with a sub team average of 17:45 and girls team average of sub 21:30.

 West Stokes High School had 3 individual runners that qualified for the event. Nathan Hatley qualified with a best time of 16:42. Jason Barber qualified with a best time of 16:55. Erica Boles qualified with her best time of 20:22.

 The race was held at Beeson Park in Kernersville  on the same course where the NCHSAA State Championships were run 1 week earlier. For the boys, Chris Colo of Marvin Ridge High School breezed to victory with a time of 16:06, 7 seconds over second place Jimmy McAlister of Zionville.  Nathan Hatley finished 7th  with a  time of 17:21. Jason Barber followed in 8th place in 17:50.

 Aleshia  Reese  from Madison High School was the first girl to finish. She completed the course in 19:44, 42 seconds ahead of second place Carmen Hilliard of South Brunswick High School.  Erica Boles finished 5th with a time of 20:26.
