Varsity Bulldogs sweep Wildcats

King - In both teams opening games of the season, the visiting Trinity Bulldogs won both the varsity girls and boys game over West Stokes in non-conference basketball action last night. 


In the girls' game, the Lady Bulldogs opened the first quarter on a 16-7 run and won 49-36.  The Cats battled back and cut the score to 35-30 with a little over 5-minutes in the game, but the Dogs went on a 14-6 run to close out the game and give the Lady Wildcats their first loss of the season. 


Sophomore Keeona Mitchell led the Wildcats with 10-points, while Carly Madigan and Danielle Niday had 7 each.  Logan Terry led the Bulldogs with 22-points. 


In the boys' game, Trinity trailed early, but fought back and won 54-43.  The Wildcats jumped to a 17-13 lead after the first quarter, but then saw the Bulldogs battled back and knot the score at 28 at the half.


The Bulldogs quieted the home crowd with a 17-2 run in the third quarter to blow the game open.  The Wildcats cut the lead to single digits on a few occasions in the fourth quarter, but couldn't over come the 5-for-15 shooting night at the free throw line. 


Brett Boyles led the Wildcats with 17-points.  A bright spots for the Wildcats were two freshman that seen quality playing time; Reid Goodson (6-points) and Josh Spainhour (5-points).   Nathan Willett led the Bulldogs with 13-points, while teammate Ethan Cox had 12.


The Wildcats next game will be against the same Trinity Bulldog team on Wednesday, December 2nd at Trinity.  Game times start at 4:00pm with the JV girls.
