Kreft Signs to Huntington
West Noble track standout Jaden Kreft has decided to continue his academic and athlete career at Huntington University. The senior just recently tied the West Noble school record in the Long Jump with a leap of 21’9.5”. The record is now shared with Thomas Collet, who later won the NAIA National Championship while attending Indiana Weslyan University. Jaden was also one of the top 400 meter runners and high jumpers in the area this past spring. He was All NECC 2 years and a Sectional Champion.
Kreft is looking to study Music Business and Production while attending Huntington. His goal is to someday work for a Record Label in the Nashville, Tennessee area. “I just fell in love with the campus when I stepped on it. I was impressed with all the different types of trees on the campus and the fact that was a Christian college. I feel like they were also very generous with their financial package to attend the school.”
Longtime Huntington University Coach Tom King looks forward to getting the talented Kreft on campus. “We just feel like Jaden is a good fit for our team and University. Jaden is a strong athlete and it will be fun to find out what his best event in college is going to be. With Jaden being such a good 400 runner, long jumper and high jumper… we might have him give Triple Jumping a try. He also will be involved in our relays as well.” Huntington graduated only 3 seniors and will only have 4 seniors next year so it will be a relatively young team next season.
West Noble boys track coach Chuck Schlemmer also is excited to see Jaden at the collegiate level. “Jaden is a good kid with an excellent work ethic. He was very coachable and a good teammate. It will be fun to see what events he puts his mind to at Huntington. We will certainly miss his ability to score well in a lot of events for us.”
Jaden is the son of Joshua Kreft and Jamie Mishler.
