May 21, 2014
By Tom Schermerhorn of West Noble High School

The West Noble Charger girls track team had some proud moments Tuesday night at the East Noble track sectional.  Not only did Amairany Cruz, Yvette Rojas and Erin Mawhorter all advance to the Marion Regional, but the Chargers had numerous young ladies record their personal best on Tuesday night.  In the 200 M dash the Chargers placed 1st with Amairany Cruz and a 5th with Erin Mawhorter.  In the 400 M dash, Cruz nearly broke the school record on her way to a 2nd place finish.  Cruz also finished 4th in the Long Jump with  a 16'3" leap.  Scoring in the 3200 M run with a 4th place finish was sophomore Yvette Rojas with a time of 12:19.  The Charger 400 M relay team finished 5th with Cruz, Jessica Vazquez, Mawhorter, and Kelsie Peterson making up that team while the 3200 M relay team consisting of Kennedy Jones, Kellie Waring, Lissette Salas, and Yvette Rojas also placed 5th.  Finally, in the pole vault competition, Amanda Huntsman placed 7th for the Chargers with a jump of 7'6".  Great job ladies!  Complete results are posted below on the link.
