See How They Run

March 16, 2014
By Amy Dreibelbis of West Noble High School

Theatre33, West Noble High School's theatre group, has been practicing and perfecting the lines and fast-paced timing for their Spring production of Philip King's "See How They Run", a hilarious farce.  A farce is a play with a comical situation that is ironic and improbable.  Slap-stick and physical comedy are a part of why farces are so funny.  The situation is ironic because the audience knows things the other characters do not, and it builds on the anticipation of the moment when the impossible situation finally is resolved.

“See How They Run” is set to hit the West Noble High School stage Friday and Saturday, March 28 and 29 at 7 PM and Sunday, March 30, 2014 at 2 PM.  Tickets are $5 for students and $6 for adults. There is general seating and the box office opens one hour before the show.

There are a variety of stereotypical characters in “See How They Run” like the saucy maid, portrayed by junior Lauren Durbin, and the nosey neighbor played by senior Kristen Alcala.  Amber Wilkins, junior, and Nic Weimer, sophomore, play the young couple Penelope and Lionel, an American actress and a British Vicar.  Unexpected guests as well as expected guests who come early make for a chaotic evening in which someone gets knocked out and a few others get locked in closets.

Since we know it is a farce, and this situation could not really happen, we are drawn in to the hilarity of the characters and how they each react to the chaos.

Theate33 is also sponsoring a “See How They Run” 5.2 K/ 3.3 Mile Race and 1 Mile Family Fun Run for Saturday, March 22, 2014 at West Noble High School with registration starting at 9:00 A.M.  Registration forms are available at Theatre33.com  Forms will also be available at the West Noble High School and West Noble Middle School offices.

The “See How They Run” 5.2 K/3.3 Mile Race registration fee is $15 and  the One Mile Family Fun Run is $10. There will be prizes for each winner in each age division as well as an over-all winner. Each pre-registered participant will receive a “See How They Run” t-shirt. Pre-registration deadline is March 12, 2014 to guarantee a t-shirt.
