West Noble's Chris Marin Signs With St.Francis
February 26, 2014By Tom Schermerhorn of West Noble High School
West Noble senior soccer player Chris Marin has decided to continue his academic and athletic career at the University of St. Francis. Marin, a 4 year starter for the Chargers, will study business for the NAIA school located in Fort Wayne. Chris enjoyed his visit this winter to St. Francis and came away excited about the players in the program and the coaching staff. Chris also had the opportunity to visit with some potential incoming recruits and felt very good about the direction of Cougar soccer.
USF Coach Mitch Ellisen likes what he sees in Marin. “Chris is a high quality young man that will bring a good work ethic to our program. At this point we don’t look at putting Chris at a specific position; we would like to see where he fits in with the Cougar players.” Chris played defense for the Chargers the last 4 years. He was a huge part of 3 NECC Tournament Championships and 2 Regular Season Championships. Chris also was very instrumental in helping West Noble win a sectional last year before losing to eventual state champion FW Canterbury in the Regional Finals.
West Noble soccer coach Amplelio Pizana was also very excited to see another player from his program go to the collegiate level from this year’s team. “Chris is a hard worker and will do very well at St. Francis. We will miss his leadership and intensity out on the field.”
Congratulations Chris and good luck!
