Chargers Down Hornets; Schermerhorn Tops 1000

The West Noble Charger boys basketball team continued its winning ways with a 56-38 victory over the Angola Hornets. The Chargers held off the determined Hornets with a strong second half performance. 6'4" Senior Drew Schermerhorn topped the 1000 career point mark early in the 3rd period on his way to 19 for the game. Brandon Moser chipped in 14 for the Chargers while Phil Miller added 10, Waylon Richardson 7 and Kyler Warble 6. Miller also added 8 assists and 4 blocked shots for the host. The Chargers are now 16-4 on the season with Friday night against Goshen being the final home game for seniors Brandon Evans, Drew Schermerhonr, Landon Stover and Phil Miller. JV game time is 6pm this Friday.
In JV action, the Chargers were defeated 49-27. Larry Nickolson and Tyler Clouse each had 6 points to lead the Chargers while Drew Wiley and Tim Stohlman both added 5 points.
Historically speaking... Schermerhorn is the 5th Charger to reach 1000 points in his career. Other 1000 points Chargers were Doug Targgart(1285), Glen Steele(1187), Dan Rarick(1151) and Steve Anspaugh(1090). Anspaugh actually scored 1992 in his careeer, but 902 were scored at Wawaka High School before the consolidation.
