Wrestlers Getting Ready For Conference

January 24, 2014
By Tom Schermerhorn of West Noble High School

The wrestling team finished up the regular season Saturday going 0-5 at the Westview super dual in what could best be described as a roller coaster week.  They started out the week with a big win Wednesday night over Jimtown 42-27.  It was the first win in over 10 years against Jimtown.  The Chargers then lost a close one to county rival Central Noble on Thursday 37-28 that was first lost to them over 10 years.  Coach Tom Marsh feels the boys need to get mentally tougher going into conference and sectionals.    Having a great last week were Oscar Reyes and Alex Deluna going 7-0..  Alex is have a solid year at 21-12 and we are hoping that he can continue that into the tournament series coming up.  Oscar also is having a great year leading the team in wins and pins.  Oscar has earned more team points then anyone on the team and is 5 or 6 pins away from the season record set by Asst. Coach (Kevin) Marsh.  Kevin is really pushing Oscar to get the record and is he partner in practice. After this week it really changes from a team sport to individual, but we will work hard to place well at the conference tournament to help out with points for the All-sports trophy.  The NECC Tournament will be held at Fairfield High School Saturday at 11am.  Good luck Chargers!
