West Noble Tops Westview in NECC Finals
January 20, 2014By Tom Schermerhorn of West Noble High School
The 10th ranked West Noble Chargers defeated the Westview Warriors 61-40 in front of a standing room only crowd Saturday night at West Noble. The Chargers got off to a quick start thanks to some "bombs" from junior guard Brandon Moser and solid post defense by junior Waylon Richardson and Phil Miller. Moser finished the game with 24 points to lead Coach Jim Best's Chargers while seniors Drew Schermerhorn, Brandon Evans and Miller all added 14, 12, and 9 respectively. The Chargers led 31-17 at halftime against the always tough Warriors. The title marked the first time since 1974 that West Noble has cut down the boys NECC title nets. Members of this years team includes Evans, Schermerhorn, Drew Wiley, Nik Risser, Moser, Miller, Richardson, Kyler Warble, Landon Stover and Grant Moser. The Charger are now 11-0 on the season and will have a double header this weekend as they host the Fremont Eagles Friday night and the Whitko Wildcats on Saturday. Great job guys and good luck this weekend!
