Chargers Drop Heartbreaker to Lakers

The West Noble Chargers and Lakeland Lakers battled to the very end Tuesday night in a regular season NECC volleyball match up. The Chargers took the 1st set 25-15 before dropping the next 2 22-25 and 23-25. West Noble then took set 4 25-22 before falling 11-15 in the final set. The Chargers were led by Vanessa Ratliff's 9 kills while Rachel Schermerhorn added 8 kills to go along with her team leading 22 digs. Kelsie Peterson set the table for the hitters with her 24 assists but also added 16 digs and 6 kills. The Chargers are off until Monday night when they take on the Hamilton Lady Marines. The Charger JV team dominated the match versus the Lakers by the tune of 25-10,25-12. The Chargers were led by Kaylie Warble's 9 kills, Becca Schermerhorn's 20 assists, and Megan Pearsall's 4 serving aces. Defensively, Erin Mawhorter and Schermerhorn led with 5 digs while Kenzie Teel added 3 digs. The Chargers are now 4-6 overall.
The 9th grade team played well but fell to the Lakers by a tight margin as they lost the 2nd set 24-25. The Chargers continue to improve as they continue to get valuable playing experience. The 9th graders will be playing at Warsaw on Saturday in the Warsaw Invitational. Good luck ladies!
