West Noble Outlasts NorthWood 63-60

By Tom Schermerhorn of West Noble High SchoolThe West Noble Chargers continued their winning ways by defeating a very tough NorthWood team 63-60. The 14-1 Chargers jumped out to a 34-30 halftime lead on a Nick Thomas 3 at the 2nd quarter buzzer. The Chargers then outscored the Panthers by 7 in the third quarter. The fourth quarter was very much in favor of the Chargers until the Panthers made a late run to cut the lead to just 3 with seconds remaining on the clock before the Chargers held on for a 3 point victory. Leading the way for West Noble was Nick Thomas with 15 points and 6 assists while Keith Gibson also recorded 6 assists to go along with his 14 points. Junior guards Drew Schermerhorn and Brandon Evans also scored 14 and 12 for the Chargers. Gibson also led the Chargers with 7 boards. The boys will now face the Westview Warriors on Friday night in a battle for the NECC regular season title. Both teams come into the game with a 7-0 record in the NECC. The winner will be in the driver's seat with just 2 conference games remaining. The Warriors defeated the Chargers earlier this season in the semi finals of the NECC tourney. There will be a varsity girls game between the two schools beginning on Friday at 6pm while the boys game will follow. Good luck to both the boys and girls! #ChargerPride
