Chargers Sweep Cougars in Boys Hoops
December 17, 2012By Tom Schermerhorn of West Noble High School
The West Noble Charger boys basketball team jumped out to a 28-14 halftime lead enroute to a 55-42 victory over NECC rival Central Noble. The Chargers received strong play from senior point guard Nick Thomas who ended up with 17 points. Fellow senior Nick Noe scored 9 points as did junior Phil Miller while Brandon Evans provided a spark off the bench with 8 points. The Chargers upped their record to 6-0 on the season and will host the Prairie Heights Panthers on Friday.
It was another good win for the now 5-1 West Noble JV Boys as they beat Central Noble 42-28 on Friday night. It was a hard fought battle as the Chargers were a little short handed without their point guard Nik Risser, who is out with a broken finger. Sophomore Brandon Moser filled the point guard role nicely as Junior Ruben Ortiz got his first career start. It was a long and drawn out battle the whole way through as both teams played tough and physical defense. In the end, the JV Chargers were still impressive enough to claw out the win as they held their fourth opponent out of six games to less than 30 points. Sophomores Kyler Warble and Waylon Richardson scored 15 and 10 points respectively, and Freshman Drew Wiley added 8.
