Lady Chargers Down Wildcats in OT Thriller

The Lady Chargers survived a late surge by Whitko Thursday night at home to post a 53-51 vitctory! West Noble fell behind early and found themselves down 12-4 at the first break but rallied in the second quarter to hold a 21-16 lead at halftime. The Chargers increased their lead and were in command with 6 minutes to go in the game up by 13 points before Whitko “caught fire” from the perimeter and rallied on the strength of 4 three pointers and 21 points to take a late lead. With 17 seconds left in the game Ashley Shepherd stepped to the line to shoot three free throws and tie the game. After knocking down all three and sending the game into overtime, West Noble hit 7 of 8 more free throws in overtime along with a field goal by Kelsie Peterson to take away their sixth victory of the season! Leading the way was Haley Richardson with 17, Kelsie Peterson 16 Ashley Shepherd 13, Kenzie Cox 4 and Paige Shearer 3.
The Junior Varsity improved to 8-2 with a solid 38-27 win over Whitko. Nine ladies scored and the Chargers took a one point deficit at halftime then win both the third and fourth quarters convincingly. Leading the way was Cara Groff with 14 points, Priscila Ortiz and Brooke Lutton 5, Lexi Shepherd had 4, Kendal Baker 3, Paige Shearer, Sandra Carrillo and Darby Allen each had 2. Becca Schermerhorn rounded out the scoring with 1 point.
West Noble heads out on the road Saturday to play county rival Central Noble, game starts at 6pm in Albion.
