Bruins Nip Chargers in Soccer Showdown

The 7th ranked Bethany Christian Bruins outlasted the 11th ranked West Noble Chargers 2-1 Thursday night in a battle between two of the state's best.  Despite outshooting the host Bruins, the Chargers simply could not get much past the Bethany goalie.  The Chargers had multiple shots bounce off the face of the Bruin goal.  Bethany got on the scoreboard midway throught the first half on a free kick and later scored on another goal in which the Charger defense appreared to have stopped thinking an off sides had been called.  Late in the second half;  however, Axel Barrientos got the Chargers on the board with a long shot from about 40 yards.  Charger goalie Emanuel Ibanez had another solid performance by saving 6 shots throughout the game.  The game was hard fought and well played by both teams.  The Chargers will try and get back on track Saturday against the Central Noble Cougars.  Game time is 10am at Central Noble.  Good luck guys!
