Panthers Top Chargers in Sectional Finals
March 4, 2012By Tom Schermerhorn of West Noble High School
The Chargers dream ride ended a little earlier than hoped as the visiting West Noble team had a cold night shooting against the talented NorthWood Panthers in Napanee. The Chargers held a 5-4 advantage after the 1st quarter, but the Panthers outscored West Noble 30-16 in the next two quarters. West Noble made a late 4th quarter run at the host, but just could not get closer than 6. Junior Nick Thomas knocked down 6 three pointers on his way to a game high 20 points while sophomore Drew Schermerhorn chipped in 13 to go with his game high 9 rebounds. Nick Noe was able to get loose for 8 points and 5 boards, Armando Rosales also scored 5 points and had 5 boards while fellow big man Keith Gibson battled early foul trouble on his way 4 points and 8 rebounds. The Chargers(13-11) unfortunately will have to say good bye to two seniors, Jordan Younce and Damon Lortie. These two players have been invaluable for West Noble this season and will be missed not only for their talent, but their character as well. This season marked the first winning season for West Noble boys basketball since 2005-06. Good job guys.
