Chargers Clip Falcons in Hoops Thriller

January 28, 2012
By Tom Schermerhorn of West Noble High School

The West Noble Chargers and Fairfield Falcons played  a barnburner on Friday night in Benton.  Fortunately for the Charger faithful, West Noble was able to connect from the free throw line down the stretch to seal the victory 57-53.  The Chargers(7-8) received a solid floor game from junior Nick Thomas, while Nick Noe, Keith Gibson, Jordan Younce and Armando Rosales pounded away inside.  Phil Miller played a great game defensively for the Chargers against the talented Falcons.  Nick Thomas led the way for West Noble with 16 points while Nick Noe scored 12 and added 8 rebounds while fellow post Keith Gibson offered up 10 points and 11 rebounds.  Drew Schermerhorn knocked down a couple of three pointers in the second half on his way to 8 points while Phil Miller added 7 points including a couple of huge free throws down the stretch.  Great job Chargers!

In the JV game the Chargers fell to the Falcons 47-41.  Sophomores Brandon Evans and Landon Stover both scored 13 points to lead the Chargers in scoring.  Johnny Miller also chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds while Brandon Moser scored 3 and Jake Young 2.

In the Freshman game that was also held tonight, the undefeated Falcons won by the score of 37-20.  Kyler Warble led West Noble with 8 points while Nik Risser and Waylon Richardson each scored 5.
