2008 Great American Rivalry Series
With the start of a new football season comes the return of the much-anticipated Great American Rivalry Series split into two divisions this season; the American Division presented by the US Marine Corps and the National Division presented by the United States Air Force. The fifth annual Series, created to showcase top high school football rivalries across the nation, will kick off on Friday, August 29 and continue through November with 44 can't miss games being played. This is high school football at its best.
As part of the Series, the winning team earns bragging rights along with the coveted title of "2008 Great American Rivalry Champion" and is presented with the Champion's Trophy. A "Most Valuable Player" is also recognized, and the Series creator, iHigh Incorporated awards the top student athlete from each school a college scholarship. Fans from across the country and overseas can tune into the games live over the Internet via the iHigh.com Broadcast Network (iBN) by going to http://www.greatamericanrivalry.com/.
The Great American Rivalry Seriesâ emerged from a desire to celebrate the cultural phenomenon of Friday night high school football. The Series shines the spotlight on classic gridiron clashes where expectations could not be any higher and their following resembles a die-hard religion. For many seniors, this may be the last big game of their high school career and the climax of their "Glory Days." The Rivalry Series captures that moment and creates a memorable experience for athletes, students and fans that will be talked about long after the end of the season.
