Home » Cross Country NewsWest Lafayette boys, girls sweep Hoosier Conference cross country championshipsOctober 3, 2012 West Lafayette Jr.-Sr. High SchoolWest Lafayette’s girls cross country team showed off its depth Saturday while claiming the school’s 14th consecutive Hoosier Conference championship. Freshmen Lauren Johnson and Kristen Johnson finished 1-2 and a second apart (19:18-19:19) to lead five Red Devil runners in the top seven. West Lafayette ran the meet without its top three athletes yet outpointed Twin Lakes 19-57. Sophomore Delany Barber was fourth, junior Grace Denton took fifth and sophomore Rachel Bales finished in seventh place for West Lafayette. The West Lafayette boys, claimed their 12th consecutive Hoosier Conference championship. Yet another freshman, Cooper Williams, finished first for the Red Devils in 17:05. Sophomores Jake Cohen (17:11) and Dom Patacscil (17:16) were right behind in second and third. With freshmen Dylan Williams, Ryan Johnson and Alex Hummels, and senior Michael Crawford all finishing in the top 10, West Lafayette scored 18 points to outrun Twin Lakes (60).
