West Lafayette Jr.-Sr. High SchoolClass 3A No. 8 West Lafayette has defended Benton Central’s passing attack well, allowing 28 points in four meetings over the past three seasons.
This year the Red Devils expect to contend with a new wrinkle: an improved BC running game. Bison running back Garrett Gray is averaging 9.2 yards per carry as a complement to quarterback Brandon Rooze.
“He may be one of the quickest guys we’ve faced so far,” WL coach Marshall Overley said of Gray.
West Lafayette is coming off its fourth shutout in two seasons and has allowed 21 total points. Linebackers Quinton Skibinski and Ty Edmond lead the way.
“We’ve got the athletes out there, and we make it simple enough that they don’t have to think too much,” Overley said.
