West Lafayette wins volleyball showdown

Three strong hitters are better than two, as West Lafayette’s volleyball team proved Tuesday night in its 21-25, 25-17, 28-26, 25-14 victory over Benton Central.

Katy Brose put down a match-high 22 kills and was supported by 17 from Tasha Baker and 13 from Sarah Collicott for the Red Devils (12-3). Devin Hainje and Jessica Martin set up the trio with a combined 51 assists. Hainje also led the defense with 19 digs.

Cassidy Deno and Caitlyn Tolen were the go-to hitters for Benton Central (6-4) with 19 and 15 kills, respectively. Tolen’s dominating night included six blocks and eight digs. Deno had three blocks.
