Waynesboro—The Mustangs were forced by the weather to travel to Waynesboro for a second time this year. Senior Austin Herrington had a career night on the turf.

The Mustangs opened the scoring in the 14th minute when junior fullback Eddy Murrieta played a long ball to Herrington. Austin converted and West led 1-0. The score stood until halftime.

The offensive explosion began just three minutes into the second half. Junior Donaldo Martinez played a through ball to junior Kyle Estess. He chipped the keeper from the 18 yard line for the goal.

After the War Eagle kickoff, senior Omar Garcia stole a pass and fed Herrington for another goal.

Five minutes later, Estess set up Herrington’s third goal. One minute later Martinez found Herrington again.

The final goal of the night belonged to Estess in the 57th minute of play.

Senior keeper Jacob Hauenstein only  had to make three saves in the district shutout.

“The boys rose to the occasion tonight,” said Coach Winship. “It was great that Wayne County was able to host due to all the rain.”
