Mustangs take first round win vs Long Beach

Mustang Field—Junior forward Beth Coleman opened the scoring in the 8th minute after sophomore midfielder Carly Mauldin chipped a ball into the box. Coleman’s blast was slapped by the keeper into the side netting.

Two minutes later, it was Mauldin who scored off a give and go from junior midfielder Hunter Eady.

In the 65th minute, forward Payton Roney played a ball past the on running keeper and crossed it through the six yard box. Senior midfielder Taylor Herring was making the back post run and finished the shot.

Mauldin would score her second goal off a pull back pass from Coleman.

The stellar performance by the defensive line required sophomore keeper Abby Baravik to make only four saves in the 4-0 shutout victory.
