Senior midfielder Taylor Herring scored the game winner in the 3rd minute off an assist from junior midfielder Beth Coleman. Coleman would have a busy night as she assisted senior midfielder Somer Anderson in the 7th minute. In the 8th minute, Coleman scored the third goal as sophomore midfielder Carly Mauldin rewarded the front post run. 45 seconds later, Herring’s cross was finished by Mauldin. After stealing the kickoff, Roney set Coleman up inside the 6 yard box for another score. “The offense was playing very unselfish in the match,” said Coach Winship. “Most runs were rewarded with spot on passes. Even when the score got lopsided, the group of girls on the field never stopped attempting to execute what we work on.” Roney would get a goal in the 12th minute by hitting the rebound off a Mauldin shot. Anderson scored her second of the match by shooting a ball on the ground from about 25 yards out. 8th grade midfielder Meredith Follis chested home a corner kick from the combo of Coleman to Anderson. Mauldin and Herring would both add goals before the half as would 8th grade forward Julia Berry off yet another assist from Coleman. The halftime score would be 11-0. In the second half, Coleman, Mauldin, Follis and junior midfielder Hunter Eady would each score once more for the Lady Mustangs in the second half. Sophomore Abby Baravik and 8th grader Taryn Pitts combined for the one shot shutout.
