Mustang Field—The Mustangs made it three-for-three in District 5-5A play with the 2-1 victory over division rival South Jones Braves.

Mustang shooters would send over twenty shots at the SJ goal in the match. Sophomore forward Kyle Estess would break the 0-0 tie late in the first half. Senior midfielder Evan Buckley stole a pass at midfield and chipped the ball over the Braves’ backline. Estess wound up with a 1 on 1 with the SJ keeper and scored his 12th goal of the year.

The lead held until halfway through the second half. SJ committed a handball infraction inside their penalty area and Buckley converted the free kick giving WJ a 2-0 lead.

With just minutes remaining in the contest, South would get its own penalty kick after a foul was called on Mustang keeper Jacob Hauenstein. The visitors would convert but get no closer.

Hauenstein saved 8 of 9 shots on frame for his 8th win of the season. West Jones improved to (9-3, 3-0) on the season.
