Shiloh Park Brandon—The Mustangs would knock off 6A Vicksburg in the second of three matches on the day.
The Vicksburg Gators posted the game’s first goal in the 19th minute of play off a quick counter and chip.
Senior fullback Chance Clark would equalize the game off a corner kick by sophomore forward Kyle Estess. The ball was played into the box and sent back out on the ground towards the arc. Clark was assigned to the area and blasted a shot low into the goal.
Two minutes later, senior forward Peyton French took a driven pass from senior midfielder Evan Buckley and outraced the Gator backs for the game winning goal.
In the 36th minute, Buckley would score a goal of his own off a pass through the mark from French.
Vicksburg would score their second goal in the 45th minute of play, but French would add his second of the match just four minutes later off an assist from sophomore midfielder Donaldo Martinez.
Estess would add the final goal of the match after a punt from junior keeper Jacob Hauenstein found junior forward Chase Brown. Brown headed the ball over the defense and Estess hammered the shot into the net.
The Mustangs outshot Vicksburg 13-9 with Hauenstein making five saves in the match.
"I was very pleased with our movement off the ball and with our finishing,” said Coach Craig Winship. “Everything seemed to flow much better in the second game. The defensive changes we made last night against Starkville looked much better in this game.”
