League Standing

February 12, 2014
By Leroy White of West Coast Hoops

With this being the last week of the regular season, we decided to break down several of the league standings to see what (if anything) is at stake this week in terms of positioning.

Bay League
Redondo: 8-0
Peninsula: 5-3
Palos Verdes: 5-3
Mira Costa: 4-4
Redondo faces PV tonight and Peninsula faces Mira Costa.  If Redondo and Mira Costa win, it would create a 3-team logjam for second place that makes Thursday’s Mira Costa-PV game even more important

Del Rey League
Bishop Montgomery: 7-1
Serra: 5-1
Provided both teams win out, the tiebreaker may not matter as both teams could move into the Open Division. Bishop Montgomery may have clinched their spot by beating Serra but the Cavaliers’ resume could make them a lower seed.

Pioneer League
Lawndale: 7-1
North Torrance: 6-2
Centennial: 5-3
Torrance: 3-5
Lawndale has to win their next two games to officially clinch their 2nd straight league title. North can win out and hold on to second but awaits the return of Koh Flippin when the playoffs start. Torrance appears headed for fourth.

Ocean League
Beverly Hills: 7-1
Inglewood: 6-2
Santa Monica: 6-2
Inglewood hosts Beverly Hills tonight and a win would create a tie for first in league. If Santa Monice beats Morningside, it becomes a three-way tie. An Inglewood win tonight gives them the tiebreaker edge over Beverly Hills for sweeping them but should Inglewood and Santa Monica tie, SaMo holds the tiebreaker from sweeping the season series.
