The three-time Dream Team pick hit .371 with 33 hits, 20 RBIs and 24 runs. But it was the ASU-bound standout's 4-2 record and 0.78 ERA that most helped the Monsoons repeat as league champs.
Cortez hit .393 with 35 hits and 14 runs scored and was the Vikings' most consistent hitter. The right-hander also went 4-4 with a 2.52 ERA and 58 strikeouts for the SGVL co-champions.
The 2012 Dream Team Pitcher of the Year, he went 8-2, threw a perfect game and beat Lakewood's Shane Watson and Wilson's Chase DeJong to lead Poly to its first outright league title in 44 years.
Crawford had an area-best 45 hits (eight doubles, eight triples), a .459 average and 31 RBIs. The three-time Dream Team pick and USC commit scored 37 runs and stole 22 bases for the Moore League runner-up.
Last year's Dream Team Co-Pitcher of the Year, DeJong (6-4) had an area-best 103 strikeouts, a 10-inning no-hitter (vs. Poly) and an 0.87 ERA in 80-plus inns. He hit a team-
best .324 BA, but got zero runs of support in his four losses.
The SGVL Pitcher of the Year went 8-3 with a 1.11 ERA, 68 strikeouts.He allowed just 11 earned runs in 70 innings and was key for a team that won 12 of its final 14 games and shared the SGVL title.
The SGVL Co-MVP is an emerging star after hitting .462 with 37 hits, 30 RBIs, 26 runs scored and 12 stolen bases. He already has 74 career hits and struck out just seven times in 107 at-bats for the Division III semifinalists.
Junior, 3 B
The SGVL Co-MVP hit .400 with 36 hits, 27 RBIs and an area-
best seven HRs. The Arizona State-bound third baseman scored 27 runs, had nine doubles and helped lead Gahr to the CIF-SS Division III semifinals.
The Suburban League MVP had arguably the area's best breakout year, hitting .452 with 38 hits, 19 RBIs and 10 doubles. He was 8-0 on the mound in the regular season with a 1.66 ERA and 58 Ks for the undefeated league champs.
Morales hit .418 with 38 hits and 20 RBIs for SGVL co-champs. The hard-
hitting junior scored 23 runs with 10 doubles and five triples to help lead Gahr to the CIF-SS Division III semfinals.
Navarette kept his team in the SGVL title hunt despite little run support by going 6-4 with a 1.67 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 63 innings. The lefty matched CIF-SS Division III Player of the Year Justin Garza pitch-for-pitch in the third round of the playoffs and shined in the playoffs and allowed just 15 earned runs all season.
The area's biggest surprise on the mound finished the regular season 8-0 with 41 strikeouts, a 1.97 ERA and was named Sunset League Pitcher of the Year after going 5-0 in league play.
The 2012 Dream Team Player of the Year helped lead the Jackrabbits to their first Moore League title since 1968 by hitting .451 with 41 hits, 30 runs scored and 30 RBIs.
Junior, 3 B
His team's MVP, he hit .452 with 28 hits and made only three errors at shortstop. He also was 1-1 with a 0.50 ERA and five saves as the area's most reliable closer.
Watson (4-3) as the 40 th pick in the 2012 amateur draft by Philadelphia. He hadhad a 22-5 career record and a 1.17 ERA. The only area pitcher to beat Castellanos, he finished nearly every game he started the last two seasons with very little run support.
Algra finished a great career with an 8-2 record and a 1.75 ERA and 71 strikeouts. The two-time Dream Team pick also hit .337 with 29 hits, 17 RBIs and led team to first league title since 2006.
One of the area's best leadoff men, he hit .356 with 36 hits and 30 runs for the Suburban League champs. He also had 18 RBIs, eight doubles and played a great center field.
Chavez hit for a .366 batting average with 26 hits (four doubles, four triples), 22 runs scored and 11 RBIs to help keep Warren in the San Gabriel Valley League title hunt all season.
St. John Bosco
The UC Irvine-bound shortstop hit .366 with 26 hits and 12 RBIs. He scored 13 runs, had five doubles and committed just one error on defense while playing a leadership role for coach Moon Cordero's team.
The workhorse went 8-6 with an 0.86 ERA in 70 innings. The lefty threw 23 postseason innings and led Gahr to the CIF-SS Division III semifinals. He should be one of the area's top high school pitchers in 2013.
Espinoza went 8-3 with a 1.69 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 61 innings as the Pirates' No. 2 pitcher. He saved his best for last when he threw a second-round shutout against Culver City in the Division III playoffs.
Arguably the area's best designated hitter, he hit .421 with 32 hits (eight doubles) and 25 RBIs to lead the Monsoons to an undefeated 12-0 mark in Suburban League play.
The lefty was one of the area's best arms despite a lack of run support. The Rams' team MVP had five wins and 79 Ks in 64 innings and was always on the mound in Millikan's biggest games.
Padulo hit .422 with 26 hits, 27 runs scored and 23 RBIs while helping his team lock up the Sunset League title.
He was a first-team all-league pick and provided key senior leadership.
Rodriguez was as consistent as anyone with his .407 average, 33 hits, 22 runs scored and 16 RBIs. He was also one of the area's best defensive catchers and led Mayfair to a 22-6 record.
Senior, 3 B
Roman hit .392 with 29 hits and had 23 RBIs in a stellar senior season. He had six doubles, six triples and scored 13 runs to keep Warren in contention all season atop the SGVL standings.
Stillwagon led the Olympic League champs with a .463 average, 31 hits, 20 runs scored and seven doubles. He was also solid on the mound, going 3-1 with a minuscule 0.39 ERA.
Turley was his team's unsung hero with a .341 average, 30 hits, 25 RBIs and 29 runs scored. The UCLA-bound senior led Poly with 25 walks and was part of a school-record 72 victories in his career.
"Yaz" hit .402 with 26 hits, 11 runs scored and 18 RBIs for the Sunset League champs. The first-team all-league pick was just as valuable behind the plate in handling a solid but young pitching staff.
Senior, 2 B
Zepeda hit .381 with 27 hits, eight doubles and 18 RBIs. The captain and two-year starter hit .486 in league and was a first-team All-Suburban League honoree as well as a great student
