Home » Girls' Softball NewsEarly lead gives West Central easy victory over South NewtonMay 2, 2012 West Central High SchoolWest Central jumped out to an early lead on South Newton and captured a 12-2 victory on Tuesday at South Newton. With eight runs in the first three innings, West Central left no doubt about the eventual outcome. An RBI single by Ashton Barkho, a two-run single by Joelyn Flotow, and an RBI single by Sammy Daugherty in the first inning and a two-run single by Flotow and a sacrifice fly by Autumn Wireman during the second inning supplied the early offense for West Central. Barkho racked up two RBIs on two hits for West Central. Flotow put together a nice outing. Flotow gave up just one hit, allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out six during her six innings of work. West Central brought home one run in the third inning, and matched that run total in the fourth. In the third, West Central scored on a wild pitch, plating Cali Fairchild. West Central added three more runs in the top of the sixth. A single by Barkhoignited the offense,, bringing home Peyton Shepherd. That was followed up byJustine Kruger's single, scoring Sarah Becker. The JV team also defeated SN 7-6.
