25 Years & Then Poof, It's Just Gone!!!!!!!!

May 25, 2014
By Arnie Behnke of Weyauwega-Fremont High School

25 Years & Then Poof, It's Just Gone!!!!!!!!

At the Chilton Division 2 Sectional in 1989, a lightly regarded quartet of WFHS athletes ran the race of their lives. Jodie Javoroski, Cindy Tate, Jodi Baehman, and Tanya Hering put together the best time ever by a Weyauwega-Fremont 400 meter relay team.

Jodie, Cindy, Jodi, and Tanya ran a 400 meter relay time of 53.3 seconds and broke the mark set in 1976.

For the next 25 years, Coach Behnke and then Coach Winn tried their darndest to put an end to that mark but came up slightly short.

Fast forward to May 22, 2014 under first year head coach Jered Wilson and poof there is a new 400 meter record at Weyauwega-Fremont

The new record time of 52.6 is the mark for future WFHS relay teams to shoot at. Let's not wait another quarter century.

Congratulations to Coach Jered Wilson and his record setting girls: Michaela Hintz, Cara Volz, Megan Young, and Miranda Arndt!!!
