TV Studio visits the set of WGN-TV

March 3, 2011
By Jodi Pelini of WDDE-TV

Students from the TV Production and Broadcast News classes visited the set of the WGN morning show on Wed March 2, 2011.

Students had to arrive bright and early at 6:45am in order to make it in time to watch the last hour of WGN's award winning morning show.  While there, the students got a tour of the newsroom, editing suites and several of the studio sets.

They got the chance to watch morning anchors Robin Baumgarten and Larry Potash live in the studio while filming the show.  In addition, students watched a live performance by award winning composer Steven Schwartz (known for his work on "Wicked).

Among the other highlights of the tour: Students talked to Executive Producer Sandy Pudar and Entertainment Anchor Dean Richards.  Some students even got the chance to meet renowned meteorologist Tom Skilling!

Students say that the behind-the-scenes look at WGN-TV was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.  They produce newscasts all the time at Eisenhower, but they loved the chance to see how the pros do it!
