Boys' Basketball Roundup | Fast start serves Silver Creek well, 63-53

The Silver Creek boys’ basketball team took a 20-9 lead and went on to defeat host Salem 63-53 Friday night.

Senior guard Caleb Sprigler hit all eight of his free throws and scored 20 points, and Jacob Brooks scored nine of his 16 points in the first quarter for the Dragons (9-7).

Senior forward Zach Bowling paced the Lions (10-5) with 24 points.

Crawford County 65, North Harrison 64: The visiting Wolfpack (12-4) forced a turnover by the Cougars (10-6) with six seconds left in the game, which led to the winning basket. Isaac Bowles was 4 of 8 from 3-point range and had 23 points for Crawford County. Cory Smith scored 15 for North Harrison.

Bedford North Lawrence 52, Floyd Central 44: Nik Bailey scored 12 points to lead the host Stars (9-8, 3-3 Hoosier Hills Conference) past the Highlanders (8-11, 3-4). Ted Hartog paced Floyd Central with 13 points.

Jeffersonville 69, Evansville Reitz 37: Bryce Rowland’s 15 points helped the Red Devils (12-2) whip the host Panthers (7-10). Joelon Stanford scored 14 to pace Reitz.

Corydon 44, Eastern Pekin 40: Bronson Kessinger and Tyler Ross each scored 10 points to lead the visiting Panthers (7-8, 3-3 Mid-Southern) past the Musketeers (4-11, 2-6). Curtis Howard scored 12 for Eastern.

Charlestown 63, Austin 58: Senior center Kendall Thompson dropped in a game-high 20 points and David Cissell added 19 as the Pirates (8-8, 2-4 Mid-Southern) held off the visiting Eagles (4-12, 0-7). Chris Braun added 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Kameron Draper’s 18 points paced Austin.

Christian Academy-Indiana 52, Trinity Lutheran 44: The host Warriors (9-8) used solid interior defense to force the Cougars (4-11) to settle for 3-point shots. Trinity Lutheran made nine threes in the game but was held to two field goals in the third quarter. Christian Academy’s Devontte King scored a game-high 18 points, and Trinity Lutheran’s Tyler Hendrix had 13.

Orleans 55, Paoli 46: Bryan Moldrem’s 17 points and 10 rebounds boosted the visiting Bulldogs (10-6, 4-1 Patoka Lake) over the Rams (8-7, 3-1). Teammate Andrew Johnson had 13 points and 10 rebounds. Clay Burnett scored 21 for Paoli.
