Home » Girls' Basketball NewsConference Tie for TitleFebruary 24, 2011 Warsaw High SchoolWest Hancock claims share of conference titlePublished: Friday, February 18, 2011 2:45 PM CST PITTSFIELD, Ill. - The West Hancock Titans claimed a share of the West Central Conference South Division girls basketball title by defeating Pittsfield 67-42 Wednesday in a game rescheduled from Feb. 3.West Hancock tied Liberty-Payson, Central- Southeastern, Griggsville- Perry and Unity for the con- ference title. All five teams ended the season with a 4-2 record. The Titans won their final four conference games after a seven-point loss to Unity in the season open- er on Nov. 16 and a 71-64 overtime loss to Central- Southeastern in Dec. 11 West Hancock also ave- neged an earlier loss to Pittsfield when the Lady Saukees defeated the Titans 44-40 in the Beardstown Lady Tiger Classic on Dec. 28. "I think tonight we proved just how much we have improved in the past six weeks," said West Hancock Head Coach Adam Brumbaugh. "I am so proud of the perseverance the girls showed this season. What a way to finish the season and build confidence for next season." The Titans scored 25 points in the second quarter to take control of the game. Seven different players scored for West Hancock in the quar- ter.
The West Hancock junior varsity won the conference title outright by defeating Pittsfield 79-32. The Titans finished 12-2 overall and 6-0 in the conference. Shelby Koehler scored 32 points to pace West Hancock. Madison Harmon added 15 points. Haleigh Hammel had 11 points. Allison Dewald scored 10 points. Ashlyn Skinner contributed four points, and Taylor Elkin fin- ished with two points.
