Lady Titans start tournament with a win

MENDON, Ill. — The West Hancock Titans opened play in the Unity Tournament by defeating Brown County 53-45 In a girls basketball game Tuesday.

Brown County led by one point at the end of the first two quarters and the game was tied at 38-38 going into the fourth quarter. The Titans earned the win by outscoring the Lady Hornets 15-8 over the final eight minutes,

 

Shelby Koehler scored 13 points to pace West Hancock. Carly Runge and Alexis Dooley each netted nine points. Keaghan Shacklett and Haleigh Hammel each had six points. Allison Dewald chipped in four points. Taylor Kropp tallied three points. Aleetha Mulch contributed two points, and Allyson Buckert finished with one point.

Vanessa Markert scored 14 points to pace Brown County. Jenna Yingling had 12 points.

West Hancock plays Highland in the tournament at 7:30 p.m. today. The winner advances to the tournament championship game Saturday.
