QUINCY, Ill. — The West Hancock Titans outscored QND 19-10 over the final eight minutes to defeat the Quincy Notre Dame Raiders 45-39 in a boys basketball game Friday.
Quincy Notre Dame took a 33-27 lead early in the fourth quarter, but the Titans answered with seven straight points to take the lead. West Hancock took the lead for good with a little more than two minutes remaining, and the Titans sealed the game from the free throw line. West Hancock was 11 of 13 from the foul line in the fourth quarter and 17 of 20 for the game.
Quincy Notre Dame defeated West Hancock 59-20 to win the Gully Transportation/Suns Classic Tip-Off Tournament title on Nov. 24, but the Titans were Paxton Harmon for the game.
Harmon scored 20 points Friday to lead West Hancock. He was 6 of 6 from the free throw line.
Parker Gibbs added 10 points for the Titans. Austin Hardy contributed five points. Ben Sinele had four points. Trevor Knipe netted three points. Drew Beeler tallied two points, and Devin Rings finished with one point.
Alex Fitch scored 15 points to lead Quincy Notre Dame, 15-5 on the season. Matt Doane and Chris Dietrich each scored eight points.
West Hancock, 17-5, hosts Illini West Tuesday at Warsaw High School.
