QUINCY, Ill. — The West Hancock Titans finished 15th among 25 wrestling teams at the 44th annual Quincy Invitational Tournament.
Mediapolis won five individual titles and took team title with 310 points. East Peoria was second with 190.5 points, and Alton finished third with 186 points.
West Hancock scored 90.5 points.
Jack Lucie won the 126-pound title to improve to 20-1 on the season.
Lucie opened with a pin against Belleville East’s Justin Servos in 2:17. He followed with a pin in 1:01 over Waterloo’s Paul Stewart. Lucie advanced to the final with a technical fall in 5:40 over Burlington’s Dallas Terry, and won the title with a 5-1 decision over East Peoria’s Casey McWhirter.
Will Lucie took second at 106 pounds.
Lucie opened with a pin against Roxana’s Blake Whyers in 51 seconds. He followed with a pin against East Peoria’s Phoenix Stuart in 4:28. Lucie advanced to the final with an 8-2 decision over Canton’s Dillon Lee. He settled for second after dropping a 10-5 decision to Mediapolis’ Mason Buster, ranked fifth in Class 2A in Iowa.
Freddy Lopez placed fifth for West Hancock at 195 pounds.
Lopez started with a 10-3 decision over Brody Francis of the Quincy High junior varsity. He pinned Alton’s Mark Collins in 3:00 before losing to Rock Falls’ Shawn Skinner, the eventual champion in the weight class, by pin in 4:18.
Lopez lost by pin to Quincy High’s Jaydon Summy in the consolation semifinals, but bounced back to pin Collinsville’s Alex Stower in 3:35.
Daniel Allen had a 2-3 record at 220 pounds. He pinned Lincoln’s John Riddle in 1:51 and scored a 7-1 decision over Jerseyville’s Nick Noble.
John Ruffcorn went 1-3 at 152 pounds. He pinned Belleville East’s Myles McCants in 1:48.
John Koehler was 1-3 at 182 pounds. He win was by default over Belleville East’s Tre’ Jones.
Jacob Lowman, Dakota Ruffcorn and Luke Lowman each finished the tournament with 0-3 records.
