Mark Biggs, Kentucky Mr. Baseball winner while a member of Warren East High School's 2011 regional-champion baseball team, had his number 24 jersey retired during halftime of the WEHS boys' basketball game on February 7. Now a professional baseball player in the Toronto Blue Jays organization, Biggs was a record-setting hitter and pitcher during a six-year career at Warren East. He compiled a .380 batting average with 29 home runs for his career, and he finished his career with an excellent 1.79 earned-run average as a pitcher. He was drafted by the Blue Jays in the eighth round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft.

Biggs’s jersey will hang in the WEHS gymnasium alongside those of boys’ basketball great Johnny Britt and girls’ basketball standout Kami Thomas Howard, both of whom earned All-State honors and went on to enjoy outstanding careers at Western Kentucky University.
