SANFORD — Southern Lee defeated visiting Western Alamance 2-1 in overtime in the second round of the Class 3-A state playoffs for boys’ soccer Saturday afternoon, ending the season for the Warriors. The Cavaliers won in dramatic fashion as Western Alamance scored in their own goal in the extra period.

The Warriors (16-2-3) got on the board first when Jackson Lilly found the back of the net on a Jacob Thompson pass in the 60th minute. But nine minutes later, Southern Lee (17-2-2) knotted the game at 1-1. The teams battled back and forth until the overtime goal was scored.

Tyler Billings recorded 10 saves in goal for Western Alamance.
